About me
Hi, my name's Hadley, and I'm a documentary filmmaker from Birmingham, Alabama. For the past five years, I’ve practiced film & photography in the Atlanta area.
While attending Emory University, I made my first documentary about a restaurant owner who lived and died by his Appalachian holler: a retrospective about legacy and dreaming of a bigger world through the eyes of his adventurous daughter (Princess Georgina).
During my junior and senior years, I developed a passion for small town politics and social impact stories, and I produced two more short docs on local Atlanta communities (Five Star Decade, Portrait of A Choir).
After graduation, I started creating video content full time for a law firm that helps the everpresent aging population in Georgia, where I created another short documentary celebrating 10 years of their service. I continued to produce regular short form explainer videos and promotional material, interviewing, learning, and educating all along the way.
Right now, I'm looking to be involved in small community stories that make a big social impact. I believe that the bigger the concept you want to communicate, the smaller your storytelling focus goes. As Anton Chekov said, “Don't tell me the moon is shining; show me the glint of light on broken glass." I don't tell the long struggle against injustice in all its forms--I show small examples of people doing their best to make a difference.
If you've got any interest in collaborating with someone who is intentional, people-first, and passionate about serving others through thoughtful storytelling, I sincerely hope to hear from you.
Best wishes,
